HISTORY

Founded in 1630, Boston is one of the oldest cities in the United States and played a significant role in the American Revolution. The Boston Tea Party, where colonists dumped tea into the harbor in protest of British taxation, is one of the most famous events in American history and is commemorated by a museum on the waterfront. The city also played a key role in the Underground Railroad, helping slaves escape to freedom in the North.
