Silvano Albanese, better known by his stage name Coez, is an Italian singer, rapper, and songwriter. He was born on July 11, 1983 in Nocera Inferiore, Italy. While Coez was born in a small Southern Italian city, he grew up in the capital, Rome. As a teenager, he managed to make a living as a graffiti artist. In the early 2000’s, he formed a hip hop group with two other rappers named Franz and Nicco. It was called “Circolo Vizioso” (meaning “Vicious Cycle” in English). They produced a mixtape and album together.
In 2007, joined by two other rappers, Lucciand Bruno “Snais” Cannavicci from the band “Unabombers”, they formed the new hip hop collective with the name Brokenspeakers. The group ended up having 8 members, 5 rappers and 3 DJ-producers. They became a massive success in Italy, and even opened for the American rap star Busta Rhymes when he toured their country. Brokenspeakers put out two studio albums together, one in 2009 and one in 2012.
While still being part of the hit hip hop group, Coez also started working on his solo career. He released his debut solo album “Figlio di nessuno” (“Son of Nobody”) in December 2009. He also started doing solo Coez concert shows across Italy.
Since then, Coez has put out 5 more studio albums as a solo artist, thus he has 6 in total. The best selling one among them has been “Faccio un casino” (“I Make a Mess”) from May 2017, which sold around 200,000 copies. Meanwhile, the latest new Coez album is titled “Volare” (“To Fly”) which came out in December 2021.
Coez’s biggest hits to date are “La musica non c'è” (“There is No Music”, 2017), “Le luci della città” (“The Lights of the City”, also 2017) and “È sempre bello” (“It’s Always Good”, 2019). He was also featured on the 2018 hit song by fellow Italian rapper Gemitaiz, “Davide” (“David”). Check when the next Coez concert is taking place on our page above.
