Flow Festival is a special city festival in Helsinki, Finland, happening every year since 2004. It started because the founders wanted a high-quality alternative music festival in Helsinki. Over 20 years, it has grown from a small event to a major European festival. Even though Flow has become bigger with more artists and people, the founders' main goal is still the same: to create a festival they would love to attend. Today, Flow aims to be one of the best and most prestigious festivals in the world, offering great experiences and improving Helsinki’s cultural scene.
As the organizers stated, Flow Festival was founded out of a love for culture and has greatly influenced Helsinki’s cultural scene. Culture and events can improve people's well-being, which motivates Flow. However, the festival also recognizes its environmental impact.
For over ten years, Flow Festival has worked hard to reduce its environmental footprint. It considers its effects on the local community, residents, and the environment and strives to lessen its negative impacts. Flow continually seeks new ways to be more environmentally friendly by conducting research and taking action. Additionally, the festival supports the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation to help protect old-growth Finnish forests.
Over the festival editions, heavy-weight artists and groups, such as Tove Lo, Pusha T, Lorde, and others, performed on the stages.
