Top10 Worldwide Music Selection From Concerty - September 2023

Let's all get together and listen to the music that's popular in many different parts of the world. Concerty has brought another worldwide selection for you, this time for the month of September.

Jungkook - Seven feat. Latto (SOUTH KOREA)

Jungkook is in competition with Jimin in which BTS boy has had the best solo career so far. With his fun, new, lovey-dovey pop banger “Seven”, Jungkook managed to put a couple more points on the board for himself again. Female rap star Latto from the United States also helped him out with a couple hot bars.

This track was not only popular in the artist’s home country of South Korea, but also charted high on Spotify’s global list for September as well.

Quevedo - Buenes feat. Saiko (SPAIN)

In Spain, in the meantime, local hip hop star Quevedo had a winner as well. This one is another love song (not a shocking surprise). However, unlike the first one from Korea, this isn’t about the pink-colored phases of a relationship - rather, it’s about longing for an ex lover. The title “Buenes” doesn’t say much, it’s just a generic greeting in Spanish.

Despite the somber theme, the beat on the track is pretty upbeat, with quite a good amount of EDM-vibes to it that would stand out in a club on a Saturday night. Anyhow, it’s certainly worth a listen - it’s linked for you below.

Xiao Bing Chih - 毒藥 (Taiwan)

This song from local pop singer Xiao Bing Chih actually came out over a year ago. However, “毒藥” (meaning “poison” or “addiction” in English) continues to be popular with Spotify users in Taiwan, pushing it near the top of the local chart in September 2023 too.

Shiva - Syrup (Italy)

Now going back to Europe, and to the Mediterranean more specifically, we have Italian singer-rapper Shiva and his song “Syrup”. Unlike the previous one, this a fresh new release, which wasn’t even included on his latest album, “Santana Season” also from this year.

Shiva himself is relatively new to the Italian music scene as well, having first made music with significant popular appeal in 2018. However, his profile seems to be on the rise, with some help from this latest hit as well.

Lola Amour - Raining in Manila (PHILIPPINES)

The Filipino rock band Lola Amour wrote a little jam about their nation’s capital, Manila. The lyrics are in a half-English, half-Filipino, and they’re about - as you probably could have guessed by the band’s name - a love interest. The melody itself is very poppy, with a strong presence of the trumpet in the instrumental. Take a listen for yourself and see how you like it.

Kenya Grace - Strangers (UKRAINE)

With the country of Ukraine being in the news so much because of the ongoing war, the last thing people wonder is probably what music is popular there in these troubled days. The answer is not some military marching song, rather, a brand new cut from British R&B singer Kenya Grace.

We still just can’t bring you any surprises about the lyrics’ theme - this one’s also about love and relationships; more specifically, getting estranged from a lover. This message is delivered by the musical stylings of Graces’ haunting, sultry vocals.

Tate McRae - greedy (MALAYSIA)

Let’s go to Malaysia next, where another artist from the Anglosphere, the Canadian pop singer Tate McRae hit it big with her new single “greedy”. She’s another fresh new face on the music scene: she just turned 20 and has only one album under her belt so fat, 2022’s “I Used to Think I Could Fly”. With the popularity of “greedy”, there’s a good chance we have another rising star on our hands - especially among Malaysian Spotify users, by the looks of it...

Peso Pluma - LADY GAGA feat. Gabito Ballestero & Junior H (MEXICO)

In Mexico, popular Regional Mexican singer Peso Pluma put out a song dedicated to the eccentric American pop star Lady Gaga. While the “muse” of the song has yet to respond to it herself, it still managed to gain quite some traction. Pluma even got to perform it at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Nawal - مخصماك (EGYPT)

We have another single on our list that was able to stay relevant for well over a year. Nawal Abdechaffi’s “Mekhasmak” came out back in February 2022. It really blew up on TikTok, where it amassed over 200 million views. On YouTube, its official music video has a still impressive 105 million views. However, the reason it’s included in this list of ours is because it managed to stay near the top of the Spotify chart for Egypt all September.

Calin - Safír feat. Viktor Sheen (CZECH REPUBLIC)

At last, we have a “recurring character” on our list. Calin out of the Czech Republic has been featured in our Concerty Worldwide column before - back in August 2022, he made the cut with his cut “Hannah Montana”. This time, he’s back with his new single "Safír", which got big in his home country with the help of a feature from Kazakhi-born rapper Viktor Sheen.
