Max Pezzali is an Italian singer and songwriter. He was born on November 14, 1967 in Pavia, Italy. Pezzali was born to a flower shop owner family in Lombardia. In high school, he had to repeat third grade after failing multiple classes. However, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise: the next year, he met his classmate Mauro Repetto, whom he later founded the pop rock band 883 with.
The band’s original name was “I Pop”. Their first television appearance was on the music show 1, 2, 3 Jovanotti in 1989. The founding members were only Pezzali and Repetto, both vocalists, with Repetto also playing the rhythmic guitar. Over the years, a whole slew of musicians played in the band, but none as prominently featured as Pezzali or Repetto.
In 1991, the new group had a very successful live performance at the famous Castrocaro Music Festival. By that time, they had changed their name to “883”. Since both musicians were big fans of motorcycles, the number is a reference to a Harley Davidson model.
Their debut album, titled “Hanno ucciso l'Uomo Ragno” (“Someone killed Spider-Man” in English), came out in February 1992, It became a massive hit, topping the charts in Italy.
883 released 5 more studio albums between 1993 and 2001, thus they have 6 in total. 3 out of the 6 managed to reach the top of the chart tracked by Musica e dischi, the premier music publication in Italy. The last one was released June 2001, with the title “1 in +”. It’s a stylized way of writing the Italian words “Uno in più”, meaning “One More”. The biggest hits by 883 are “Come Mai” (“How Come?”, 1993), Nord Sud Ovest Est (“North South West East”, also 1993), and “Una canzone d'amore” (“A Love Song”, 1995).
In 2004, however, Max Pezzali decided he needed a change in his career. He left his band and started his journey as a solo artist.
In May 2004, he released his first solo album, “Il mondo insieme a te” (“The World With You”). That too reached the top of the charts upon its release in his home country of Italy. The album contains a single with the same title, which also became a hit. In the summer of 2008, he went on a huge nationwide Max Pezzali concert tour in Italy.
Since then, Pezzali has released four more studio albums as a solo artist. The latest new Max Pezzali album came out in October 2020, with the title "Qualcosa di nuovo". His biggest hits to date are Eccoti (“Here You Are”, 2004), “Sempre noi” (“Always Us”, 2012), and “L'universo tranne noi” (“The Universe Except Us”, 2013). He was also featured on the 2012 hit song by the rap group Club Dogo titled “Con Un Deca” (“With a Tenner”). Check where the nearest Max Pezzali concert is playing on the page above.
