XXL's "Freshman Class" of 2019 and considered to be the new face of female rap & trap, Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, known by her stage name, Megan Thee Stallion, is a rapper from Houston, USA. Megan caught people's attention with her freestyle videos that went viral on social media, and quickly signed with 1501 Certified Entertainment in 2018. Her big mainstream breakthrough came in the following year with the release of her singles "Hot Girl Summer," with Ty Dolla $ign & Nicki Minaj, and "Cash Shit," featuring DaBaby.

In 2020, Megan achieved two number-one hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, one being "Savage Remix" featuring Beyoncé and the other being her feature on Cardi B's "WAP." "Savage Remix" earned her two Grammy Awards for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song. "WAP" also topped charts internationally, including the Billboard Global 200, marking her first number-one song in many countries.

Megan caught the public's attention when she was featured in the 2019 version of the XXL magazine. A very important feature for all emerging rappers and singers in the US. The versions before Megan also had which now are big names in the music industry, like Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert, Wiz Khalifa, DaBaby (which was featured in the same edition as Megan), and many others.

During her career, Megan was also involved in some controversies and problems, in 2020, Megan was shot in the foot by the rapper Tory Lanez in LA. This incident became a significant theme in her debut album, "Good News". In December 2022, Lanez was found guilty on all charges related to the attack on her. Following the trial and a prolonged legal battle with her record labels, Megan decided to leave 1501 and 300 Entertainment in 2023, opting for a career as an independent artist.

Even despite the controversies and struggles, Megan always proved to everyone that she is a very hardworking person and a very smart businesswoman. In 2011, Megan graduated from Texas Southern University, shortly after, she received the 18th Congressional District of Texas Hero Award from Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee for her charitable work in Houston. Following her graduation, Megan signed an exclusive deal with Netflix, allowing her to develop and produce original content. Later in 2024, Megan signed a distribution agreement with Warner Music.
