Ben Platt is an American actor, singer, and songwriter. He was born on September 24, 1993 in Los Angeles, California. Platt was born into a show business family, with his father being a big-time Hollywood producer with such hit movies as “Legally Blonde” (2001), and “La La Land” (2016) among his credits. The young Ben took an interest in performing early on, and attended the Adderley School for Performing Arts in Pacific Palisades. He also got into Columbia University, but dropped out since he was cast in South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s smash hit Broadway musical “The Book of Mormon” in 2012.
The same year, Platt also landed a role in the hit musical comedy movie “Pitch Perfect”. In 2015, he got cast in the leading role in the musical “Dear Evan Hansen” at the Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. Due to the show’s success, the production was moved to the Music Box Theater on Broadway in New York the next year.
With his success in musical theater, singing and music wasn’t a big leap for Platt to make in his career. In 2017, he signed a contract with Atlantic Records. The next year, he performed a Ben Platt concert show at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards, singing the song “Somewhere” by Leonard Bernstein. His debut album came out in March 2019, with the title “Sing to Me Instead”. It became a hit, peaking at the #18 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. The latest new Ben Platt album came out in August 2021, with the title “Reverie”. This record failed to emulate his debut in chart performance, peaking at #84 on Billboard 200.
The biggest hits in the Ben Platt setlist to date are “Grow as We Go” (2019), “Older” (2019), and “Bad Habit” (also 2019). Check where the next Ben Platt concert is playing near you on our page above.
