New Kids On the Block Set to Release First New Album in 11 Years

"Still Kids" is coming on May 17th. The lead single off of the record, however, has already dropped - you can take a listen inside the article.

Although they may not be the newest kids on the block anymore, with the band members being in their 50’s and having put out their debut album almost 40 years ago, but one thing is for sure: they are back! New Kids on the Block, the iconic pop/R&B band of the late 80’s and early 90’s, have announced that they are coming out with a new full-length studio album on May 17th this year, through the major label BMG.

The last time Jordan Knight and the crew released a full record was in April 2013, with the title “10". Confusingly, that was the 7th installment in their discography - however, for the title, the band decided to include 3 compilation albums as well in their enumeration. This makes the new New Kids on the Block record either the 8th or the 11th one coming out, depending on how you count.

The fresh record “Still Kids” is arriving in just two months.

While the Kids have been quiet in terms of album releases for over a decade, they have put out quite a few singles in the interim - most recently prior to the big announcement, "Bring Back the Time" in 2022. However, that song failed to make the charts. Their last full record did a lot better, charting as high as #6 on the famous Billboard 200 chart in the US.

The album announcement also came with the release of a brand new single, the upbeat, hpye, dreamy-sounding dance pop track “Kids”.

Vocalist Donnie Wahlberg described the band’s new project as “the most mature album we’ve ever made”, as quoted by People Magazine’s website.

“Yet it’s the most fun and most comfortable album we’ve ever made. This album, more than any other, is bringing the New Kids and the fans full circle. It’s about hope and possibilities and being ourselves,” Wahlberg, who co-wrote 7 out of the total 14 tracks on the record and also served as the creative director, went on to say.
