Top10 Worldwide Music Selection From Concerty - June 2023

This monthly column of ours has just hit its one-year anniversary. To celebrate the occasion, we are bringing you a nice collection of hot summer tracks from around the Globe. Here they are, for your listening pleasure.

J Hus - Who Told You feat. Drake (UNITED KINGDOM)

Summer is officially here, and British rap star J Hus did not hesitate to put out a chill, laidback, very summery R&B track, right at the beginning of June. He also raps in a seemingly Jamaican accent, and reminds us all that even gangsters like to dance from time to time, as the lyrics suggest. Hip hop superstar Drake is also featured in the cut, singing an equally chill melody over the smooth beat. It seems that many people got the summer vibes from the song, as it was popular all month, in the UK and beyond.

Yoasobi - アイドル (JAPAN)

From the world of British R&B, let’s jump to the world of Japanese pop, or J-pop for short, next. In the land of rising sun, the musical duo Yoasobi hit it big. Their new single ‘アイドル ‘ trended high on Japan’s Spotify charts in June.

They are relatively new to the scene, having formed in 2019. The duo is made up of producer Ayase and vocalist Lilas Ikuta, who is usually represented by an animated vocaloid figure in music videos and other official media put out by the band. However, she is a real woman - maybe to the disappointment of some of the most avid male fans of Japanese pop culture in the West…

Jazzy - Giving Me (IRELAND)

Next up, we have an artist that is even fresher on the scene than the previous act, having started her career in music in 2020, and charting first time in the UK in 2021. She is a 27-year-old singer-songwriter named Jazzy. Despite what her name suggests, she is not in the jazz genre - in which case she probably wouldn't have the level of success she does today - rather, in hip hop, pop, and dance-electronic music.

The following is the latter, a fresh new electro-pop track, linked below for you to take a listen. Her YouTube channel still only has around 11,000 subscribers, which suggests she is still in the beginning of her career in the industry.

Tedua - Hoe feat. Sfera Ebbasta (ITALY)

Meanwhile in Italy, hip hop remains to be ever-so-popular. This is good news for artists such as Genova-native rapper Mario Molinari, better known by his stage name Tedua, who just put out a hit new single simply titled ‘Hoe’. Sfera Ebbasta is also featured on this short, just two-minute-long track.

Noa Kirel - Unicorn (ISRAEL)

The young, hot Israeli pop singer made her way back to our monthly list. Last time Kirel was featured was back in September, with her EDM-pop single “Panther”. This time, she put out another song named after an even more majestic creature, although not a real one this time - this one’s titled “Unicorn”. It even took Israel to the Grand Final of the Eurovision 2023 contest, where it ended up taking 3rd place.

Taylor Swift - Cruel Summer (NEW ZEALAND)

Taylor Swift is having one of the most successful times of her career. Her 2022 album “Midnights” spent 6 weeks on top of the famous Billboard 200 chart in the US. Even now, 9 months after its release, it is ranked #4 on the chart. And “Anti-Hero”, the biggest hit single off of her new record, is not the only classic Swift cut still enjoying considerable popularity. “Cruel Summer” from 2019 trended high among New Zealander Spotify users all June.

Miss Li - Våran sång (SWEDEN)

Up north in the country of Sweden, pop star Miss Li hit it big with her new single “Våran sång”, donning the jersey for the Swedish national soccer team on the cover art. She has been on the forefront of the Swedish music industry for multiple decades now, having started her career in the early 2000s. However, as this example shows, she still has some new hits in her from time to time.

Eslabon Armado - Ella Baila Sola feat. Peso Pluma (CHILE)

The Mexican regional music band Eslabon Armado out of Patterson, California in the United States put out their latest album "DESVELADO" earlier this year, the 6th one in their discography. The track titled “Ella Baila Sola” is still going strong in the Spanish speaking parts of the world, including Chile in South America. It also features the vocal stylings of Mexican rapper Peso Pluma.

Ukendt Kunstner - Uden Dig (DENMARK)

Here’s a track from the fampus Danish hop hop collective Ukendt Kunstner for you. It came out in mid-May, and continued to be popular all June among Danish hip hop fans.

Feid - Classy 101 feat. Young Miko (COLOMBIA)

Colombian singer Feid is taking us back to school with his melodic, spacey Latin Urbano track “Classy 101”. It not only features heavy drums and synths, but also the vocals of the fresh, hot hip artist Young Miko out of Puerto Rico.

Feid’s popularity has grown way beyond his home country of Colombia by now. With over 40 million monthly listeners on Spotify, he is among the top 100 most streamed artists on the platform.
